Xiaomi Poco M4 Pro 5G 64GB/4GB

General

The Xiaomi Poco M4 Pro 5G 64GB/4GB is a new midrange, with a great value proposition. It packs a very fast MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G chipset, a huge 6.58-inch LCD 90Hz screen, a great 50MP camera, a huge 5000 mAh battery, 18W fast charging, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner it’s truly worth the hype.

Design

The Xiaomi Poco M4 5G comes with a 6.58-inch 90Hz LCD screen with a dewdrop design for the selfie camera. It’s a massive screen, with an aspect ratio of 20:9 and supports HD10+ which makes it an absolute delight to consume media with. It has a plastic frame and back, and a Corning Gorilla Glass 3 front panel. It is quite bright and vivid, peaking at 450 nits. It’s rated for IP53 dust and splash protection, which means it’s not waterproof. Like many Xiaomi Redmi phones, it comes with an IR blaster and, fortunately, a headphone jack. It has a physical fast fingerprint sensor, conveniently placed on its side, integrated into the power button. It supports stereo speakers, which are great for playing media films.

Performance

The Xiaomi Poco M4 5G brings in the heat with the midrange MediaTek Dimensity 700 5G chipset, making it very fast and great for gaming. It has a Cortex 2.2Ghz Octa-core CPU paired with a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU, with storage options of 4/6 GB for RAM & 64 or 128 GB for ROM. It however does not come with an expandable memory option, which shouldn’t be a problem. Paired with the 90Hz screen, running the latest Android 12 with an MIUI 13 skin on top, the performance feels very fast and premium. No lags or slow transitions on this one. Everything feels fast, fluid, and rich in colour.

Cameras

The Xiaomi Poco M4 5G has a dual-camera arrangement on the back, which is the fewest we have seen on a Redmi Poco for a while, though the space for more is still there. It comes with a huge 50 MP primary sensor, for those excellent daylight photos. The 2MP depth camera is for the portrait or bokeh effect, and to an extent, helps take macro pictures. The video can support up to 1080p video at 30 fps, with HDR support & gyro-EIS stability assistance. The selfie camera is a decent 8MP wide sensor, capable of 1080p video at 30fps. The selfies are great and well-lit.

Other features

At 18W fast charging, the phone can get fully charged in about an hour. That in addition to the fact that it also comes with a Li-Po 5000mAh non-removable battery is true value for money. Even with the high refresh rate screen, this should be more than enough. The main concession would be that there is no reverse wired charging. It supports NFC for contactless paying. It comes in Poco Yellow, Power Black, & Cool Blue

Similarly, priced phones would include the OnePlus Nord N20 5G, Oppo A96, Samsung Galaxy A52, and Realme GT Master. the main talking points would be the battery and the cameras. Also despite it being an IPS LCD screen, it offers an experience similar to any midrange gadget at this price point.

Even for the price, it’s a great device. An improved 5G midrange chipset, huge immersive screen, and unique camera systems. Get your Xiaomi Poco M4 Pro 5G 64GB/4GB at Gadget Central today.
