Sony FDR-AX43 UHD 4K Handycam Camcorder features a built-in gimbal with Balanced Optical SteadyShot image stabilization and a low-light Exmor R CMOS image sensor to produce crisp, high-quality UHD 4K video or 16.6MP still photos. Record up to UHD 4K video at 24 or 30 fps using Sony’s XAVC S codec at rates up to 100 Mb/s or up to 50 Mb/s 1080p HD video.

Fast, intelligent autofocus tracks your subjects while keeping them sharp, and the ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* zoom lens features a 20x optical/30x digital zoom in 4K and up to 250x digital zoom in HD. The FDR-AX43’s Dual Video mode enables you to record MP4 movies simultaneously with your XAVC S 4K video, perfect for playback on your phone and faster uploading to your network or the web. The Dual Video Mode also enables the use of the Highlight Movie Maker, a one-button function that creates a highlight reel of your footage you can quickly play back at an event. A 4K time-lapse mode can be used to condense your adventures or capture stunning nature or atmospheric sequences.

Monitor your shots or vlog using the FDR-AX43’s tilting, flip-out 3.0″ Clear Photo touchscreen display. For large-screen playback, use the HDMI output port for connecting a larger screen. You can even ‘trim’ a selected portion of a 4K video or image frame to fill the screen with Full HD quality. For enhanced connectivity, the FDR-AX43 is Wi-Fi enabled, offering one-touch remote control and sharing using your compatible smartphone.

The ZEISS Vario-Sonnar T* lens features a wide 35mm-equivalent focal length of 26.8mm (in movie mode) to fit more into your shots and a 20x optical zoom range in UHD 4K. Multicoating reduces unwanted reflections, ghosting, and flares. To get you closer to the action, the zoom range can be extended using Clear Image Zoom of 30x/40x (4K/HD) using Clear Image zoom.
Fast Intelligent AF
The Fast Intelligent AF uses accurate contrast-detection autofocus to minimize lens motion. Predicting the AF range, and accelerating lens drive so you can capture more fleeting moments.
5.1 Channel Onboard Audio Capture
During AVCHD recording, a 5.1 channel built-in microphone captures active sounds coming from five directions so you can experience your home movies the way you experienced them while recording. Level meters on the LCD panel provide visual monitoring of each channel’s levels.

Note: The 5.1 channel audio is only available when recording in AVCHD, so it is not available for UHD 4K recording, which uses the XAVC S codec.

XAVC S, AVCHD, and MP4 Codecs
The FDR-AX43 records 4K and HD movies in the XAVC S format. Which uses MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 for video compression and linear PCM for audio compression. While saving files in an MP4 wrapper which allows for extensive record times and easy editing. Additionally, you can choose to record HD in AVCHD (ideal for HDTV and Blu-ray disc burning) or MP4 (ideal for sharing over the internet).
Dual-Video Recording
